A look into my workflow, and what inspires me.
Take a look at a selection of designs, what inspired them, and how I refine them in technical BitMap format.
Inspired by geometry - Platonic solids are five perfectly symmetrical 3D shapes. Looking for an element to tessellate in a sock.
I created this small repetition from the Tetrahedron shape of Platonic solids. Its tricky getting the right size to tessellate well, usually takes a couple tries.
With my small pattern now tessellated I use this as a template to modify and refine.
This is now refined with pronounced sections around the ankle and footbed, introduced other shapes to break up pattern and sections. This will now act as my template to create final bitmaps.
This "main design" is created from my previous template by subtracting colors and elements. The blue is mesh and the red is strong spandex for select recovery. These colors send commands to color feeds on the machine.
I make my elastic design from previous template as well. This gives command to elastic selection on machine. Terry design is made from the previous as well.
That is how I created this sock.
Did the same process for this one too. Also played around with tuck-stitches on the welt.

Sketching on blank socks is a nice way to get Ideas down fast. Making a BitMap based on the sketch to produce the prototype is easy once you have a concept.

This is a hand- knit table runner made by my Grandmother. Her work naturally inspires me.
A summer ankle sock with mesh patterned inspired by grandmothers work, featuring two plating yarns creating a strong contrast. Mesh all around except on the footbed. Welt pattern inspired by NMD shoe.
I love the table runner inspired sock, I wear them a lot.
Same construction as the table runner socks with different mesh plating colors and welt pattern.
exploring arch band textures on "sleeves" some of my favorite effects using different tone of the same color yarns to produce a bit of a monochrome contrast. I love this clean look.
I design all my Bitmaps directly on Lonati software, photon 3. This is a template for arch band exploration.
This is a simple mesh or drop needle patterns inside of stripes, the real magic is the plating yarn, and elastic yarn change at every stripe. Thats why you see 3 colors in the purple stripe, and 3 colors in the grey stripe. So much potential to explore with this concept.
adidas boost inspired texture.
Inspired by goyard geometry pattern
Reptile inspired texture. This one is one of my favorites. lots of potential.
Inspired by waffle knit long sleeve shirt
Driven to make things different, the marketplace is stagnated with simple and repetitive socks. There is more than just 3x1 ribs and they don't have to be vertical.
Im inspired by muted pastel color pallets like this one
I feel like I could work some magic with this aesthetic pastel pallet on monochrome textured ( Men and Women ) socks.
I also dig this neutral pallet
A good fall pastel pallet is always welcome.
A spring pastel pallet is always nice too.
